If you would've told me last semester that I would be comfortable holding a rat, I would have not believed you. I have always been terrified of rodents of all kinds. My mother has a diagnosable phobia of rodents which has definitely influenced my opinion of the little creatures. Her fear of rats is so bad that she wouldn't let us see the Disney movie "Ratatouille" because it involved rats running around a kitchen. Needless to say my initial impression of rats was not positive. However, my attitudes toward rats changed after seeing and holding Ruby! I was nervous at first, but after I came back for the first time by myself I felt much more comfortable with Ruby, especially in comparison to Connor's rat who "relieved itself" on Connor's arm the first time he held it! I feel very lucky to have Ruby, and look forward to training her over the next couple of weeks!

Ruby's 1st Report
